F.A.Q.

What are your prices?
We have flat rates, based upon each Portrait Package we offer. The specific rates are in the product description... just click the “Order” button on the menu bar to the left!

How does this work?
When you click the BUY button, you will be transferred to our detailed Transaction Information page. READ IT CAREFULLY!!! When you’re ready, you’ll follow our link to PayPal to complete your order. Upon approved payment you’ll be sent to our special character survey. Copy that into an email, fill it out and send it - along with screenshots - to address on the survey!

Will you make me a picture of Batman?
US Copyright Laws prohibit us from soliciting business or committing transactions regarding protected properties such as Batman and Wolverine. Images in our portfolio featuring such properties are institutional, and were privately arranged.

What about in-game NPCs, like Statesman from City of Heroes?
To avoid drawing the ire of NCSoft, we rigidly comply with their public record regarding use of their properties. We will not engage in a transaction resulting in a portrait of Statesman (or any franchise character from any game). However, we have no problems appropriately featuring such properties in established in-game context within a portrait of YOUR character.
Example: We will NOT render an image of Gruul the Dragonkiller, but we will render your character locked in combat with him.

Your work is so realistic... do you do nudes or adult content?
We work in SF and fantasy art, which by definition can often be suggestive. However, the HPS absolutely will not engage in production of adult content. What's our limit? How far will we go before we consider it "adult?"
Draw a line. On one side is the great painter Luis Royo. On the other is comics legend Adam Hughes. The HPS is on Adam's side of the line. No exceptions.

Why are your Group Shots capped at seven characters? I saw one you did a while ago that had almost 50!
Unfortunately, committing to such projects has proven to take WAY too long, resulting in an frustrated client and a frustrated artist... neither of which is what we want (especially the former). Additionally, those super-huge projects diminish our availability to other similar projects! So to ensure everybody has the opportunity to see their hero in a group setting, we capped Group Shots at seven characters... just like the classic Justice League and the Fellowship of the Ring. Please don't come to us asking for nine or ten! We hate saying "no," but we'll have to do just that.

What does "Guaranteed Turn-Time" mean?
It means that if you don't receive a finished HPS portrait in a timely manner, per our Transaction Instruction page, you will promptly receive a 100% refund along with your portrait. If our artists need longer than the allotted period to complete your image, they are required to submit a waiver to you within 36 hours of the HPS' receipt of your payment. Waivers may not exceed 2x the remaining contractual time on your project.

I love your art, and would love to play with you in-game!
We each have a favorite game... sometimes we play together but not as often as you'd think. If you think you'd like to "meet" one of us in-game, go to the Contact page and email us!
FYI, WoW is on intermittently; CoH is on every weekend. And Ironmonkey is hyped for Warhammer!

Do you do game mods?
Sorry, no. That said, we are quite interested in CoH Splasher...!

"You have somehow taken an image from my imagination and made it print. I am absolutely stunned to see my inner picture of [my character] displayed right before me. It’s an incredible piece of work, filled with light and power and even majesty. I feel this is the best piece I have seen you do and couldn’t be more flattered that its’ my character."

"Well, what the heck can I say? As always, your work is of the highest quality and more than worth waiting for! So thank you, thank you so very much for not only the image, and not only your perceptiveness (for such is probably your greatest gift and talent), but also thank you for your professionalism and overwhelming kindness. In a field where artists of your caliber (there aren't many) basically seem to feel that their clients exist at their sufferance, you are a definite exception."
-CoastCosmic
